Blacktown leads the world in Vienna 2017

Project architects Jacobs will take Blacktown Hospital to world later this year when they present at the prestigious International Academy for Design & Health World Congress, placing us in the world’s top 14 innovative health design projects.

Architects Chin Young, Don Garner and Arthur Collin will present the case study at the conference in Vienna in July.

“The Blacktown Hospital clinical services building is an outstanding example of a creative, responsive and sympathetic design that meet the needs of patients, carers and staff because it was co-designed with them,” said BMDH Project Director Andrew Paris.

"It’s an outstanding achievement to be recognised at this international level. It validates our approach to design and the importance of consumer engagement and we are delighted to see Blacktown Hospital representing Australian innovation at this event.”

The colourful hospital design has become a local icon, embraced by the community for its unique, instantly recognisable façade which reflects the diverse multicultural local community.

The successful clinical services building design is also being applied to the new Stage 2 acute services building, to be completed in 2019.

The International Academy for Design & Health  is a global non-profit organisation with an interdisciplinary knowledge community dedicated to the stimulation and application of research concerning the interaction between design, health, science, culture and economics.
