The new Blacktown Hospital A21 Emergency is now open.

Emergency includes:
  • Reception – to quickly take your details
  • Waiting area -  with spacious, comfortable seating
  • Triage – to assess the urgency of your emergency
  • Acute beds and Resuscitation – for critical and serious emergencies
  • Urgent Care – for less urgent emergencies which can be managed more quickly and easily so you can get home sooner
  • Short stay – for patients who need to stay a little longer than four hours because we are waiting tests results, further consultation or to observe your condition
  • Walkway to main entry for convenience store, food and cafes
When you arrive, our staff will assess you and direct you into the right zone for the most rapid treatment. We will see you as quickly as possible, but please remember that the most urgent cases need treatment first.

Your safety is our priority on relocation MOVE days. Emergency Dept staff have plans in place to manage patients already in Emergency on MOVE day. Please ask your healthcare team if you have any questions.

The existing Emergency Dept area will be redeveloped for Outpatients and Endocrinology as part of the next stage of the project.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY DIAL 000

  • Remember Emergency Departments are for emergencies.
  • An emergency is when an illness or injury is serious and requires urgent attention.
  • If your illness or injury is urgent, please call 000.
  • For information about the existing Emergency Department at Blacktown Hospital or Mount Druitt Hospital Emergency Department, and links to other services for non-urgent care, click here
  • The order in which you will be seen in an emergency department is determined by the seriousness of your health problem, not the time of your arrival.
  • Those people with the most serious and urgent conditions will always be seen first, and those with less serious conditions may have to wait until the doctor is free.
  • Many minor injuries and illnesses can be treated by your local doctor or medical centre.  You can also ask your pharmacist for advice.
