Regional Dialysis Centre

The new regional dialysis (RDC) centre provides patient-centred care and education in refurbished new facilities at Blacktown Hospital.

It is located on Level 2 of the Administration & Education Building at Blacktown Hospital with an adjacent permit-holder parking area.

The new RDC was designed in partnership with patients, carers and staff, and includes a major community art project to help create a vibrant, positive and welcoming environment.

The location provides separation from the busy main hospital, improving access for dialysis patients from the local community who need to attend the centre several times a week.

The new dialysis centre is a one-stop-shop for treatment and support and includes:
  • 22 treatment bays for dialysis in “pods” for easy management
  • A new satellite pharmacy so you no longer need to go to the main hospital for medications
  • Outpatients clinics to see your kidney doctor, your nurses, social worker and dietician
  • Facilities for patient training and education, consultation rooms and support areas.
The RDC provides more than 35,000 occasions of service every year to a catchment of more than 1.5 million people in Western Sydney and rural NSW.

A new in-centre dialysis unit is also under construction for inpatients who need dialysis, eliminating the need to transfer to Westmead for treatment.

Community welcome

In December 2016, we celebrated hte opening of the new centre with a smoking ceremony, ribbon cutting and community welcome.

Coming soon to Mount Druitt Hospital
